- Please be advised that one of our neighborhood residents was robbed at gunpoint by a young black man @ 9:40 Saturday night in the block of Dooley between Ellwood and Floyd. There have not been any other incidents reported. The police are investigating and will let me know when they have any more information. As always, if you have any information that would help solve the crime, please contact the police.
Also, although outside of our neighborhood, several businesses on Broad Street near Boulvard were robbed recently at gunpoint, perhaps with a shotgun. These include the Chanello's, Subway, 7-11 and the ABC store.

On the evening of May 31 a robbery occurred in front of 3337 W. Grace St. The victim was confronted by two unknown B/Ms, one armed with a handgun. They demanded money. They took the the victim's purse and cell phone, then fled the area in a Green Jeep. The police located the vehicle and pursued the suspects who were apprehended without incident. The suspects also are being charged with several other robberies in the area. Please keep in mind to stay in groups, be aware of your surroundings, travel in well lit areas and keep purses, etc. close to your body. Never argue with the robber since belongings can be replaced.
There have been several larcenies from vehicles occurring in the area. Please remember that thieves are opportunistic. Keep your cars locked and don't leave valuables in your car. What you do leave in your car, keep out of sight.
The police are doing a great job and report that violent crime continues to be way below last year's numbers.
A robbery occurred May 22 at 11:22 p.m in the 3100 block of Floyd. The victims were sitting in their vehicle when an unknown black female approached them and ask for directions. While giving directions, two black males armed with handguns approached the victims and demanded money. There were no injuries. Suspects appeared to be late teens early twenties. This does not appear to be a pattern or linked to the robbery about which I advised you at Grove and Sheppard.
ARSON UPDATE from the 3rd Precinct - April 11th
"An unknown individual set several trashcans and debris on fire east and west of the Blvd. No dwellings were serious damaged. I had my units and units from other Precincts roving the area and locating all the set fires. A map is attached to this e-mail displaying where the arsons occurred in your area. Monday Night and Tuesday Morning we had extra patrol around the Museum Area to stop suspicious subjects. We do not have a description of the arson suspects. However, we made an arrest of a subject for unrelated charges that may have been responsible for the fires. The suspect was arrested several years ago for setting the same type of fires and was recently released from prison."
• CRIME UPDATE from the 3rd Precinct - April 11th
"Crime in your area for the Month of April is down -68% from last year during the same time frame. There were three thefts from autos, 1 larceny all others, and 1 theft of motor vehicle parts. No other crime reported for the month of April. I would still stress to the Museum residents the importance of not leaving valuables in the vehicles. All three motor vehicles broken into had valuables in plain view. One vehicle had a camera, another had a purse, and the other had an IPOD and CDs."
